frequently asked questions

So... what exactly do you do?

I get asked this a lot. The short answer: I help people communicate, connect, and navigate cultures more naturally.

The longer answer is that my work lives across storytelling, media, tourism, speaking, intercultural communication, facilitation, community-building, and helping people bring ideas, experiences, and projects to life in ways that feel thoughtful, culturally informed, and genuinely connected.

No two projects look exactly the same — and that's part of what I love most about what I do. The common thread is always working with people for the people.

Do you list pricing on your website?

Because every project is highly customized, pricing is not listed publicly.

My work ranges from writing and speaking engagements to intercultural communication support, tourism initiatives, media collaboration, facilitation, consulting, and cross-cultural projects. Scope, timelines, and needs vary significantly.

This website is designed more as a portfolio and introduction to my work. If you think we may be a good fit, please get in touch.

Do I need to be based in Japan to work with you?

Not at all. While much of my experience and specialization connects to Japan, I work with individuals, organizations, media teams, communities, and projects internationally.

Many conversations, planning sessions, writing projects, speaking engagements, and consulting work can happen remotely.

Will you travel for projects or collaborations?

Absolutely.

I frequently travel domestically throughout Japan for projects connected to tourism, media, speaking, facilitation, community initiatives, storytelling, and cultural collaboration.

I’m also very open to opportunities internationally. Travel, cultural exchange, and connecting with people and communities around the world have shaped both my life and career from a young age.

While Japan remains a major area of specialization, I’m always excited to explore thoughtful collaborations, projects, and conversations wherever they may lead.

What types of clients do you typically work with?

I work across a wide range of spaces including tourism, media, education, community initiatives, cross-cultural projects, regional revitalization, storytelling, speaking engagements, and communication-focused work.

Clients have included tourism organizations, media teams, educators, local communities, brands, creatives, organizations, and globally curious individuals.

I’m not sure which service fits my project.

That’s completely normal.

Because my work spans multiple disciplines, many projects naturally overlap categories. Feel free to reach out with what you're hoping to create, improve, communicate, or explore — we can determine together whether we’re a good fit.

Do you only work within tourism?

No. While tourism and regional Japan remain important parts of my work, my background also includes storytelling, media, intercultural communication, facilitation, speaking, education, identity and belonging work, community-building, project coordination, and cultural consulting.

Can you support media productions, filming, interviews, or Japan-based projects?

Yes, I regularly support projects connected to media, storytelling, cultural communication, tourism initiatives, on-camera work, coordination, facilitation, interviews, and Japan-focused productions.

Do you offer speaking engagements or workshops?

Yes! Speaking, facilitation, intercultural communication workshops, cultural discussions, and community conversations are areas I continue expanding.

Topics often include communication across cultures, belonging, identity, tourism, regional Japan, storytelling, community-building, and navigating multicultural spaces.

What languages do you speak?

English and Japanese fluently and natively. I also like to think I speak cat reasonably well.

But perhaps most importantly, I spend much of my work helping people navigate the language beneath language — communication styles, cultural nuance, trust, emotional intelligence, and the small human moments that help people genuinely connect.

Because connection happens through much more than words.

Can you help if I don’t speak Japanese?

Absolutely.

Part of my work focuses on helping communication feel smoother and cultural spaces feel more approachable and welcoming.

Do you help with travel planning?

Depending on the project.

My work is generally less focused on traditional itinerary building and more focused on helping create thoughtful, connected, and culturally informed experiences. Whether that is to build a corporate retreat or working as a fixer for an international project, aspects of travel planning are required.

What makes your work different?

My work sits at the intersection of storytelling, communication, culture, tourism, identity, facilitation, and community-building.

I bring lived bicultural experience, long-term work across tourism and intercultural spaces, regional Japan expertise, communication experience, and a multidisciplinary approach that focuses not only on logistics — but on connection.

What is your working style?

Professional, adaptable, collaborative, and fun.

I believe great work happens when people feel comfortable enough to communicate openly, think creatively, and enjoy the process.

That means bringing professionalism, organization, and attention to detail — while also making space for curiosity, humor, local discoveries, and genuine connection along the way.

On media trips and projects especially, we work hard and move efficiently — but we also pause to appreciate local food, explore stories more deeply, laugh together, and create environments where people can do their best work naturally.

Because connection often creates better work.

Can we work together even if I’m still figuring out my project?

Yes! Some clients come with a fully formed vision.

Others simply know they want to create something meaningful but aren’t sure where to begin.

Both are welcome!
